|
Chris Gilbert - one of the UK's top advanced driving instructors with over a MILLION MILES of advanced driver training experience, former Police Class 1 advanced driving instructor, driving examiner and current ADI (6).
|

'Driving Days' in 2011 proved to be a great success with police officers, advanced drivers, driving instructors, driving enthusiasts and new drivers. Chris also helped drivers who had lost their confidence, including a fear of motorway driving. Even if you are an advanced driver already, or an HPC member, you can still move up to a higher level. It will be helpful to you if you read the 'Customer Reviews' page to see what others have said about their 'Driving Day' experience with Chris.

Introduction
There are very few, if any, other driving instructors in the UK who have Chris's background and experience in driver training. Chris has been involved in driver training for 48 years, beginning with teaching learner drivers as an RAC Registered Driving Instructor in 1964 and as a Class 1 Police Advanced Driving Instructor he covered over
a million instructional miles training police officers to drive safely at high speed
(up to 155 mph) on the public highway in 999 and pursuit driving.
Chris was a member of a Government Home Office Working Party involved in updating the police driver's manual - Roadcraft. He also taught coach driving (PCV) and driving rigid and articulated large goods vehicles (LGV). Chris holds a DSA ADI grade 6,
which is the highest grade awarded by the DSA, only 7% of Approved
Driving Instructors in the UK hold this grade.
He was also a Police Advanced Driving Examiner, a LSD/RoSPA Driving Examiner
and authorised by the Commissioner of the Metropolitan Police (London) to
conduct LGV and PCV Driving Tests for police purposes.
One of the most enjoyable courses he attended was a month residential at DSA Cardington in 1991 being trained as a DSA Delegated LGV/PCV Driving Examiner.

What is a 'Driving Day' ?
It is a day that will be tailored to suit your individual requirements and needs. The objective is to improve your driving skills, knowledge of driving and have answered all
the questions you have ever thought of. A 'Driving Day' is aimed at any driver with a
full driving licence seeking to improve their driving skills.
Chris welcomes nervous drivers and those who have lost confidence in driving for whatever reason. Please read the 'Customer Reviews' page.
Chris on a one to one basis, in your car ( can be anything from a Micra to a Maserati)
will instruct, coach and encourage you to achieve your goals. You can
choose a
half day session of 4 hours or a full day of 7 1/4 hours. The day is flexible, so on
the day, so you can choose to increase your time from half a day or reduce it by
an hour or two if you have a full day booked. Charges relate accordingly.
Before your appointed day Chris will call you personally to discuss your aims and objectives, he will then plan a route or destination that will provide the maximum instructional value to meet your requirements. There are some excellent driving
roads in Berkshire, Buckinghamshire,Oxfordshire,Wiltshire and Gloucestershire. Chris generally trains on routes and roads he used for 22 years teaching police officers advanced driving skills, so they are both enjoyable and challenging.
If you would like to join your husband, wife, partner or friend in the car as
an observer, you are welcome to do so at no extra charge.
Style of Instruction
Chris has a very relaxed, understanding and friendly style of instruction devoid of any form of sarcasm, his manner and delivery will help create the best relaxed and calm teaching environment so that effective learning takes place. He has vast experience
as a driver trainer and driving examiner allowing him to quickly assess and
recognise your strengths and the areas which may require development.
